Turnabout – A One Night Drag Show Extravaganza

PHOENIX, AZ (April 20, 2023)— Phoenix Gay Men’s Chorus (PHXGMC) is thrilled to present their fundraising show Turnabout – A One Night Drag Show Extravaganza. This show will feature non-drag performers getting into drag and taking the stage for a night of unforgettable entertainment. From lip-sync performances to singing numbers, our performers will leave you mesmerized with their talent and creativity. You’ll see some of your favorite community leaders hit the main stage in a way you’ve never seen before!
Performers include Director of Development and Marketing for one•n•ten Clayton Davenport as “Laura Expectations,” Greater Phoenix Equality Chamber of Commerce Chair Michael Mazzocco as “Tess Tickle,” PHXGMC Executive/Artistic Director Marc Gaston as “Ivana Pitch,” Executive Director of Phoenix Pride Mike Fornelli as “Anita Stepstool,” and Phoenix Women’s Chorus Artistic Director Hannah Kimball as “Fern Fatale”! Be a part of this amazing event that celebrates the beauty and diversity of drag culture. All proceeds from Turnabout will go towards supporting our $15k fundraising goal for the chorus to attend the GALA Choruses Festival in Minneapolis in 2024. “Turnabout is more than just a fun night of drag performances,” said Turnabout Co-Chair Brandon Sours. “It’s an opportunity for the Phoenix Gay Men’s Chorus to showcase the incredible talent and diversity within our LGBTQIA+ community. This event is an opportunity for us to come together and show our state that we are proud, we are strong, and we will not be silenced.”
Turnabout is an embrace of the art and culture of drag. With the continued onslaught of harmful and discriminatory bills targeting LGBTQIA+ people, especially transgender people and drag performers, this event is meant to shine a light on how beautiful and creative all drag can be. We stand in solidarity with our fellow LGBTQIA+ community members and celebrate drag as a wonderful form of expression.
