In 2004, a small group of LGBT friends began Bisbee Pride. From a small, local Pride Celebration, Bisbee Pride, Inc. has grown into a 501(c)3, nonprofit organization committed to the goals of wellness, education, human rights and acceptance within the LGBTQ and greater Cochise County Community. Bisbee Pride enjoys strong support from the local community. In fact, the City of Bisbee was the first municipality in Arizona to pass a Civil Union Ordinance before Marriage Equality became law.
One of the highlights of our organization is our annual Bisbee Pride Festival. Unlike other Pride events across the country, Bisbee Pride is a community-wide event that takes place during Father’s Day weekend. This year, Bisbee Pride will be held on June 14th, 15th, & 16th. This year’s theme is “20 Years of Celebrating Diversity begin on Friday, June 14th with unique public and private events, shows and a street dance in the evening. Saturday, June 15th, we have a Parade which winds through Historic Old Bisbee to kick off the day. It is followed by an open-air festival with vendors and entertainment that runs throughout the day culminating with our main stage event. Sunday, June 16th consists of Drag Bingo hosted by the Grand Canyon Chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, mud wrestling. and a Tea Dance that wraps up an exciting and fun-filled weekend.
