Stepping Into the Leather Spotlight: Mr. Anvil 2024 Dennis Daniels Shares His Journey
Published on March 23, 2025
When Dennis Daniels decided to compete for Mr. Anvil 2024, it wasn’t about winning a title—it was about reclaiming focus, finding purpose, and authentically showing up as himself.
“I was in a really struggling place in my life,” Dennis shared during our recent sit-down. “I needed something to direct my energy toward—and the contest gave me that.”
Dennis, who has deep roots in the leather and pageant scenes, decided to take a leap and do something he had never done before: put himself forward as a contestant. What followed was a transformative year of growth, advocacy, community, and yes—chaos.
“As Mr. Anvil, I represent the bar, but I also represent AML. It’s a dual-purpose role, and it’s kept me busy. I’ve loved the fundraising, meeting people, and building connections.”
One of the most inspiring things about Dennis’s tenure is the way he’s paid it forward. Not only did he raise the funds needed for his own travel and duties—he’s already raised $2,000 to support the next Mr. Anvil’s journey.
Why Run for Mr. Anvil?
For Dennis, the pitch is simple:
“We’re looking for people who are role models, who are part of the leather community, and who are willing to step up for the community. It’s about authenticity. It’s about being present.”
And you don’t have to be a member of AML to compete—anyone can run. Dennis encourages people from all facets of the community to show up, whether you’re a pup, boy, bear, dom, or just someone curious about leather life. “If you want to represent your community, make a difference, and have a hell of a good time—this is your chance.”
More Than Just a Title
Holding the title of Mr. Anvil is more than standing around in leather (although Dennis does that fabulously in his iconic red vest). It’s about mentoring others, raising funds for causes like Mulligan’s Manor, and helping build bridges between fractured communities.
“The Phoenix scene is still healing. But we can cross-pollinate—invite others in. You don’t have to understand someone’s kink or dynamic to show up and support.”
Dennis’s advice to anyone on the fence? Be real. Be willing. And be open to growth.
On the Horizon: IML
As his local reign ends, Dennis is shifting his focus to IML (International Mr. Leather)—where he’ll represent Phoenix on a global stage. “I’m going to have fun. I’m going to be authentic. And I’m going to do us proud.”
Come Be a Part of It
The next Mr. Anvil contest is April 12th, and whether you’re thinking about competing or just want to cheer on your community, Dennis wants you there.
“This title gave me so much more than I expected. Confidence. Camaraderie. Connection. You can make it whatever you want it to be.”
